Project Management: What is it?

Project management is a methodical approach to planning and guiding project processes from start to finish. According to the Project Management Institute, the processes are guided through five stages: initiation, planning, executing, controlling, and closing. Project management can be applied to almost any type of project and is widely used to control the complex processes of software development projects.

Surjeet, it seems that the question was rhetorical as you certainly chose an adequate definition. Is PM of particular interest to you? I have made a couple of concerted efforts to develop a PM group at WIZIQ but had very disappointing results. I would enjoy participating in ongoing discussions if such a community did start here.

I currently find myself in a position of project manager and would love to share ideas as I am not trained in that field. Here, at WIZIQ, we seem to have a hard time maintaining lively discussions within the provided "communities". Got any ideas?
